March 23, 2018: Educational Luncheon Featuring Judy Ringer
Friday, March 23, 2018
11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Pendry San Diego
Join SITE SoCal for Finding Connections in Conflict with Instructor Judy Ringer.
This program will be a creative take on professional development as guests will experience how the martial art Aikido uses the energy of conflict to connect in more compassionate ways.
Most of us see conflict as a negative, a perception that has a profound impact on how we manage it. In addition, although we may be skilled at managing other resources, sometimes we do not manage ourselves very well. We get hooked by the stress of working in a busy industry and at times may find ourselves becoming driven by emotion. We become defensive and lose power. We act out feelings instead of directing their vital energy toward purpose.
This experiential, interactive program uses principles from Aikido, the Japanese art of reconciliation. You’ll learn to utilize and re-direct the energy of conflict, reduce stress, and acknowledge and reinforce connection.
Guests will discover how to increase awareness of habitual reactions to conflict, replace them with more intentional ones, and feel more confident in moments of heightened tension and anxiety.
Don’t worry, this will all be done in business casual attire!

Give Back Get Back
At our March event, we will be hosting a “give back” component to help create baby blankets and design bags for the recipients of Gently Hugged.
Gently Hugged is our Charity of the Meeting. Gently Hugged was formed by a group of nurses that witnessed more and more families struggling to acquire the necessities of life in today’s economy. Many babies are fortunate to have an excess of clothing during their first year and some items are worn only once or twice or not at all before they are outgrown. The goal of Gently Hugged is to provide a way to get items into the arms of mothers with babies in need. Donation items are assembled in bags, then distributed by nurses and social workers to low income, military, immigrant, and foster families in need and within under-served areas such as hospitals, prenatal clinics, social service agencies, and homes.
- Gently Used or New Clothing in Newborn to 12 Months
- New Baby Blankets (45” x 30”, 34” x 30” or 44” x 44”)
- Books for Infants (Hard and/or Washable)
- Gift Cards to Target, Walmart, Carters, Buy Buy Baby, etc.
- Cash Donations
