Tech or Treat: The 2017 SITE SoCal VARnival
We’ll be “Tech or Treating” in an interactive hands-on education lunch featuring technology guru James Spellos, President of Meeting U.
Come one! Come All! Join us this Fall for SITE SoCal VARnival! You will have the opportunity to Tech or Treat at virtual and augmented reality stations where you can observe and interact with the latest technology relevant to meetings and events. From Oculus Rift/Google Tilt Brush where you will paint in 360 a virtual reality space to app/live streaming where members can reveal their story to augmented reality photo booths and virtual roller coasters, you are sure to fill your Halloween bag with a few tricks and treats to enhance your next program.
But it is Halloween!
Please come as your favorite goblin, ghoul or character! There will be prizes awarded for the best costume, best “Hospitality” costume, and best “Technology” related costume!
About our Presenter
James Spellos is the President of Meeting U, whose mission is to help people become more productive and comfortable with technology.
Jim delivers over 150 seminars annually on how to use technology more efficiently.
In 2015, Jim was named one of the Meeting Industry’s trendsetters by Meetings Today magazine. He is a faculty member at New York University, teaching in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies since 1990. He has been honored with both their Award for Teaching Excellence and their Outstanding Service Award.
In 2014, Jim joined the Board of Directors for Rock and Wrap It Up, an anti-organization which supports over 43,000 agencies in North America. Jim co-created their Whole Earth Calculator app, which helps organizations identify the quantity of food donated, and carbon footprint reduced, from food recovered at meetings and events. He also speaks about food recovery and sustainability in the industry.
Outside of the meetings industry, Jim is an accomplished musician and songwriter, playing guitar and keyboards, and has recorded an album of his original material with his previous group, Contraband. He’s currently in the studio working on new material.

SPOT, Saving Pets One at a Time, is our Charity of the Meeting. SPOT is an all-volunteer, grass roots group who save dogs and cats from the local shelters that otherwise will not make it alive. In the past five years they have saved over 2000 companion animals that would have died and united them with loving families.
We all know how expensive supplies and vet bills are. Now more than ever we need your help and appreciate it.; Every penny goes directly to the animals as they do not have overhead or paid staff.
