2009 Charities Selected PDF Print E-mail

Our three charities for 2009 have been selected!

Horsemanship for the Handicapped (San Diego County)

Horsemanship For The Handicapped was started in San Diego, CA in 1968. We are a non-profit tax exempt operation. Horsemanship For The Handicapped's staff is all volunteer and the students are not charged for the services provided.

HFTH benefits to the students:

•    Physically: Improving balance, posture, stamina, encourages muscle development and coordination.

•    Mentally: Develops concentration, vocabulary, knowledge, stimulates interest in animals and surroundings, encourages receptive and expressive language.

•    Emotionally: Gives pride in accomplishment, encourages the child to try new adventures and challenges, helps to overcome fears such as heights, animals and meeting new people.

•    Socially: Encourages a friendly, outgoing, cooperative attitude.

Orange County Youth Commission (Orange County)

Established in 1997, the Orange County Youth Commission serves inner-city children and youth by providing after-school clubs on public school campuses, sports programs at neighborhood sport centers, and high-energy inspirational teen entertainment events. Our volunteers provide excellent role models and assist in academic tutoring and character development. We measure success by a changed life!

My Stuff Bags (Los Angeles County)

•    MISSION: The My Stuff Bags Foundation’smission is to provide powerful advocacy on behalf of abused, abandoned and neglected children across the United States. The Foundation rallies widespread individual and corporate involvement through its unique program, My Stuff Bags, to address the needs of these children and support the organizations caring for them.

•    VISION: The foundation’s ultimate goal is to provide a My Stuff Bag to each of the over 300,000 children entering crisis and foster care each year.

Site SoCal is proud to be assisting many children again this year with these exceptional organizations.

Karen Olhava-Henderson Fund PDF Print E-mail

Karen and LucThis fund was established in memory of our colleague, Karen Olhava-Henderson, a longtime Singapore Airlines account executive and SITE member who died in a car accident in December, 2006.

Through this fund, SITE-SoCal will contribute ten percent of the proceeds from our annual Holiday Auction to worthwhile causes within the travel, hospitality, tourism, incentive marketing community.

This year we contributed $15,000 to an Educational Fund established for Luc Olhava-Henderson, son of Karen Olhava-Henderson.
